LIVE IN OZ – WEBSITE TERMS OF USE

1. Who we are and what these terms do
These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to the website Live in Oz and all parts of it, including:
- The Marketplace (buy/sell items, services, rooms, jobs)
- The Accommodation / Bedrooms section
- The Jobs & Services section
- The Oz Chat web version
- The WhatsApp groups directory
- Any other tools, pages, or features we add in the future
When we say "we", "us" or "Live in Oz", we mean the owner of this website.
When we say "you", we mean any person using the website or creating an account.
By using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Age and eligibility
- This website and Oz Chat are designed for adults (18+).
- By using the site or creating an account, you confirm you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into agreements in your country.
3. Accounts and security
Some parts of the site require an account.
- You must provide true, accurate and up-to-date information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details private.
- Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- If you think someone else is using your account, tell us as soon as possible.
We may close or suspend accounts that break these Terms or create risk for others.
4. What Live in Oz is (and is not)
Live in Oz is a community platform. We:
- Provide tools for people to chat, post, list, and find information.
- Are not a real estate agency, employment agency, or financial service.
- Are not the owner, landlord, tenant, employer, employee, buyer or seller in the deals you make with other users.
All listings, chats and posts are user-generated content. We don't guarantee that information on the site is correct, complete or safe.
Any agreements, payments, rentals, job contracts or sales you enter into are between you and the other user, not with Live in Oz.
5. User-generated content – your responsibility
Anything you post on the site (text, images, videos, links, listings, messages, profile info, etc.) is your content.
You promise that:
- You have the right to post it.
- It is accurate and not misleading.
- It does not break the law or anyone else's rights.
You keep ownership of your content, but by posting it you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, use, display and share it as needed to run the platform.
We may edit, hide or remove content that we believe breaks these Terms or the law.
6. Prohibited content and behaviour
We want Live in Oz to be safe. You must not use the website (or Oz Chat) to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, stalk or abuse others
- Post hate speech or discriminatory content (race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, etc.)
- Share sexual content, nudity, or sexual services
- Share content involving minors in any sexual or unsafe way
- Promote self-harm, suicide or extreme violence
- Buy, sell, or advertise illegal goods, drugs, weapons or stolen items
- Post scams, fake jobs, pyramid schemes, or misleading offers
- Spam, flood or advertise in areas where it's not allowed
- Try to hack, damage, or overload the site or other people's accounts
- Collect personal data about other users without their clear consent
We have no tolerance for objectionable or abusive content. We may remove content and suspend or ban users at our discretion.
7. Marketplace – buying and selling items
The Marketplace allows users to list items for sale or offer services.
- Live in Oz is not a party to any transaction between users.
- We do not check items in person and cannot guarantee quality, safety or legality.
- You are responsible for checking the item, the seller and the price before paying.
- You must follow local laws (for example, about consumer rights, taxes, and prohibited goods).
We strongly recommend:
- Meeting in safe public places when exchanging items
- Using secure payment methods
- Never sending money to people you do not trust.
8. Accommodation / Bedrooms
Users can advertise rooms, units or houses.
- The person posting a listing is responsible for accuracy of the details, legality of the rental, and compliance with tenancy laws in their state or country.
- Live in Oz is not your landlord, tenant, agent, or property manager.
- We cannot guarantee that any listing is genuine, safe or suitable.
Verified Badge and ID upload
Some accommodation listings may show a Verified Badge.
- "Verified" means that the advertiser has provided an ID document which we have checked in a basic way.
- Verified does NOT mean:
- that we inspected the property
- that the price is fair
- that the advertiser has good character
- that we guarantee your safety or the success of the rental.
You are still responsible for doing your own checks, inspections and contracts.
ID information is handled according to our Privacy Policy.
9. Jobs & Services
Users can advertise jobs or services (for example, cleaning, tutoring, trades).
The advertiser is responsible for:
- Making sure the job or service is real and legal
- Following local employment and tax laws
- Avoiding discrimination where the law prohibits it
Live in Oz:
- Does not employ users and is not an employer.
- Does not guarantee that any job or service is genuine, safe, or fairly paid.
Always do your own checks before accepting or offering work.
10. WhatsApp groups directory
The WhatsApp directory is simply a list of groups created by users.
- We do not operate or control these WhatsApp groups.
- Each group may have its own separate rules and admins.
- Content shared inside those groups is not monitored by us.
Joining any group is your choice and your responsibility. Please be careful when sharing personal information.
11. Oz Chat web version – extra rules
The Oz Chat web version available through the site is subject to these Terms plus the "Oz Chat Room – Additional Terms & Community Rules" section on this page.
In short:
- Oz Chat is for 18+ only.
- There is no tolerance for abusive or illegal content.
- Users can report, block, and delete content.
- We aim to review serious reports and take action within 24 hours.

12. Boosted Listings / Paid Promotions (Boost System)
Live in Oz offers an optional paid feature called Boost, which allows users to promote their listings (including accommodation, services and marketplace listings) for increased visibility on the website.
By purchasing a Boost, you agree to the following:
12.1 What Boost provides
Boost is a visibility promotion tool. Boosted listings may appear:
- Higher in search results
- In featured sections
- In homepage sliders or promoted areas (if available)
- With a "Boost" label (or similar)
12.2 No guarantee of results
Boost does not guarantee:
- A specific number of views
- Messages, leads, sales or bookings
- That your listing will be chosen by other users
Boost increases visibility only.
12.3 Boost duration
Boost duration depends on the option shown at checkout (for example 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, etc).
Once the Boost expires, your listing returns to normal position automatically.
12.4 Payments (Stripe)
All Boost payments are processed securely through Stripe.
✅ Currency: Boost payments are charged in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless otherwise clearly stated at checkout.
We do not store your full card details.
12.5 Refund policy
Unless required by Australian Consumer Law, Boost purchases are non-refundable once activated, including when:
- You change your mind
- You receive low engagement
- You delete or edit your listing during the Boost period
- Your listing is removed due to breaking these Terms
If Boost fails to activate due to a confirmed technical error, Live in Oz may offer:
- a replacement Boost, or
- a partial/full refund (at our discretion)
12.6 Removed listings during Boost
If your listing is removed for violating these Terms, your Boost may be cancelled without refund.
12.7 Chargebacks and disputes
If you file a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting us first, we may:
- suspend your account
- remove your listings
- block future Boost purchases
We may provide evidence to Stripe or your bank, including transaction logs and platform activity.
13. Reporting and moderation
If you see content or behaviour that breaks these rules, you can:
- Use the report tools inside the site or app (where available), or
- Email us at liveinozmail@gmail.com
- with details and screenshots.
We may:
- Remove or edit content
- Suspend or ban accounts
- Block access to certain features or areas
- Contact law enforcement if necessary
We are not obligated to monitor all content, but we reserve the right to do so.
14. Temporary interruptions and changes
We may need to:
- Update or change the website
- Fix bugs or security issues
- Limit or stop certain features
We do not guarantee that the site will always be up or error-free. We may change or remove features at any time.
14. Intellectual property
- The Live in Oz name, logo, design, and all software and content we create are our intellectual property or our licensors'.
- You may not copy, distribute, modify, or use any part of the site for commercial purposes without our permission.
You keep ownership of content you post, but you grant us the licence described in section 5 so we can operate the platform.
15. No warranties
To the maximum extent allowed by law, the website is provided "as is" and "as available".
We do not guarantee that:
- Listings or posts are accurate or trustworthy
- Users will behave honestly
- You will find a job, room, service, tenant, buyer or seller
- The site will always work without interruption or errors
You use the site at your own risk.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
We are not liable for any loss, damage, cost, or claim that arises out of:
- Deals, rentals, jobs, services or chats between users
- False, misleading, illegal or offensive content posted by users
- Your use or inability to use the site or Oz Chat
- Viruses, hacking, or other security problems, unless caused by our gross negligence
If we are found liable despite this, our total liability will be limited (where allowed by law) to the amount you have paid to us in the last 12 months (if anything).
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under Australian consumer law.
17. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or demand made by third party that arises out of:
- Your use of the site or Oz Chat
- Your breach of these Terms
- Content you post or actions you take using the site
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
- When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the bottom of the page.
- If changes are important, we may also notify you by email or a notice on the site.
If you continue to use the site after changes are published, you accept the new Terms.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia (or you can choose "Australia" more generally).
Any disputes will be handled by the courts of that region, unless another law requires otherwise.

OzChat – Terms of Use & Community Rules
1. Age requirement
This app is only for users who are 18 years or older. By creating an account or using the app, you confirm that you are at least 18.
2. Zero tolerance for objectionable content
We have no tolerance for objectionable or abusive content. You must not post, send or share:
- Hate speech, threats, harassment, or bullying
- Racist, sexist or discriminatory content
- Sexual content, sexual services, or nudity
- Any content involving minors
- Self-harm, suicide, or extreme violence
- Illegal activities, drugs, scams, or fraud
If you break these rules, we may remove your content and suspend or ban your account without warning.
3. User-generated content
You are responsible for everything you post in the app. Only share content if you have the right to use it. Do not post spam or advertisements without our permission.
4. Filtering of content
The app automatically filters and blocks offensive words and other objectionable content. We may update and improve this filter at any time.
5. Reporting and moderation (24 hours)
Users can report messages, posts, and profiles that break these rules.
We review all reports and aim to take action within 24 hours by:
- Removing the reported content, and/or
- Suspending or banning the user who posted it.
6. Blocking other users
You can block other users. When you block someone, they cannot send you private messages and their messages will be hidden from you.
7. Removing your own content
You can delete your own posts and messages from the feed at any time. Once deleted they are no longer visible to other users.
8. Account suspension
We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these rules or create risk for other users or the service.
